College and Career Readiness (CCR) and My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) PD Series (Middle School): Workshop 1 of 3
10/19/2021 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
College and Career Readiness (CCR) and My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) PD Series: This three-workshop series is designed to build your district/school capacity to customize and prepare a school-wide implementation of MyCAP to ensure your students graduate college and career ready.
Workshop 1: introduces district/school teams to the nature and promise of MyCAP. Participants will learn the design characteristics of high-quality MyCAP programs and learn how to align activities to the three domains necessary for postsecondary success as identified in the state definition of college, career, and civic readiness.
Workshop 2: focuses on the design of a grade level scope and sequence of learning objectives, lessons/activities and documentation of learning in each of the three domains. Participants will integrate use of their district/school online college and career planning systems, identify MyCAP ePortfolio artifacts, incorporate career development education and college access activities, and address labor market information.
Workshop 3: focuses on creating a plan to successfully implement, and evaluate, each team’s new district/school implementation plan. Participants will create a program plan, identify the range of communication materials needed to explain the value of MyCAP to multiple stakeholders, practice communicating a rationale for the value of MyCAP, and design an evaluation strategy to assess fidelity and quality of implementation.
Middle School Trainings (Virtual): Workshop 1 – Zoom Link All meetings held from 2:30pm-4:30pm
Choice of dates for 1:1 meeting with the trainers: 3/15, 16, or 17/2022
Who should participate? The CCR/MyCAP PD series is designed for school teams consisting of, at a minimum, school counselor, school administrator and educator. It is strongly recommended that teachers – general education as well as Special Education, EL, and including a CTE shop teacher if appropriate – be included on the team. This team will learn about new ways of preparing students for their futures and will develop a school-wide program that fits your needs. It is best for continuity of development if the team members can commit to all three workshops.
Funding: The PD series will be held after-school hours in order to avoid school day conflicts for team members. There is funding available to districts to provide stipends for participation. Click here to see the grant posting.
